Everything you need to know about Zakynthos (Zante) in the most up-to-date guide to the island!

Filming in Zante

Surrounded by all sorts of visual equipment, wires, plugs, software, memory cards, tripods, lenses, laptop etc. I am absolutely shuttered. Today was our first official day of shooting. We got up relatively late 7am and got into the town just before 8am. It was not long before we realised our mistake as the sun was very quick to work its way up, above our heads, and burn the living days out of us! By 10.30 am we looked like two fried mummies roaming the peaceful streets of San Marco square.

Wearing flip flops didn’t help matters either, whilst climbing up the hill to the church of Theotokos Pikridiotissas to get the best shot. Around 11 am we managed to take a break for coffee and a bite to eat, on this occassion 'bougatsa' (delicious custard cream pastry desert thingy). Sitting at the cafe we had a quick look of our work so far and marveled at my brilliant photography (yes modesty is one of my key features). The video didn't produce the same wow reaction due to a technical hitch, which we have now resolved (phew) after a few eeeeemmmm minutes (no it was hours really). Following our break were three meetings with local collaborators linked with our thematic components of local cuisine and arts/culture.  It was so exciting to get in touch with local organisations and get a sense of the island’s unique tamperamento. I was particularly moved by the locals' warmth, hospitality and entusiasm about our work. Things look promising...
