The Idyllic South
Kiliomeno stands at the boundary between North and South and is one of the most beautiful villages of the island preserving original stone architecture (such as the Alitzerini tavern, which is the oldest in the island) and Venetian features (Agios Nikolaos Bell Tower). Moving South one comes across the villages of Lithakia, Pantokratoras and Laganas. Laganas Bay is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and is the nesting ground for the endangered species of the loggerhead turtle Caretta Caretta. On the one side of the bay one finds Keri which is formed by Keri Lake and a small village on the hill. From Keri Cape one can enjoy the breathtaking views of Myzithres islets, two rocky formations in the sea. Moving towards the other side of the bay there are the scenic beaches of Agios Sostis, Kalamaki, Dafni and Gerakas. Driving from the town centre follow the coastal road to Argasi, one of the most popular tourist resorts, and continue along the shore and the golden beach resorts of Porto Zoro, Banana, Agios Nikolaos, Mavratzis and Porto Roma until you reach the final point of Vasilikos which is Cape Gerakas.
