Easter in Zakynthos

Easter is the biggest religious celebration in Greece. Zante in particular celebrates Easter with formality and gravity. The crucifix is carried around the town where shops remain shut and dark scarves are hung from all balconies. Zakynthians drop ceramic pots filled with water from their balconies. Easter Sunday encapsulates the true spirit of Greek feasting.
